Waiting for AV1 support like...

So much potential. Royalty-free.
I've tested some in SC as well.

But man this could take years.. just like when HEVC was released.
Plus most people actually argue that AV1 is only great in low-bit rate right now. HEVC still seems to be superior.

For context - this is some good references from Jellyfin's website:

https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/codec-support/

So if we break it down..

AV1 needs newer hardware to decode.
It doesn't have to be 'powerful' - in a case of Android TV OS -> most Android TV is capable of AV1 software-decoding but need at least Android TV 10.
The rest?

Well for starters, to decode AV1 (and only decode) on PC, you need at least a GPU of RTX 3000 series or RX 6000 series. Woah.

That's not even the shit part. For CPU & its integrated graphics, you need at least Intel's 11th Gen or AMD's 7000 series. Uhhhhh.. what happened there guys?

Oh wait!! that's not even the shittiest part!!

For mobile, arm-based CPUs:
Qualcomm: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 series or above (!@#$%)
Mediatek: Dimensity 1000 series (thanks Mediatek, the good guy here)
Apple's M3 (for MacOS) , certain Exynos series (Samsung) & Google Tensor on Pixels.

I haven't even begin the part about encoding yet. That's just to decode, to play the bloody codec.

To sum it all up:
